social blogging
I hink it needs a new classification. “Blog” is misleading and doesn’t escribe the experience of using it. Maybe something like “sharing
community” or “facebook but with stuff.”
It stuck in my brain and woke me up at 4:30 in the morning. Because I’ve been thinking the same thing. Yesterday I drew this chart on our whiteboard in the USV conference room for Bijan and Albert.
Blogging and Social Networking…”

imho, blogging as it has come to be understood, is less of a web log, and more of a soapbox. the difference is that logs tend to be less edited & more about cataloguing & sharing. the popularity & low acccountability of blogging has taken a once genuinely social concept and morphed it into a low-key means of distributing the same information by more people.
