In New Zealand, Farmers Don't Want Subsidies

I have big problems with farm subsidies, mostly because they promote the distortion that people are helpless against corporations without the help of the government (which, in turn fattens up said corporations). There are significant parallels to the welfare system: instead of helping people become self-sustaining, we just give them money (in exchange for votes, of course).
