Fleet Foxes - Blue Ridge Mountains
I’ve been addicted to this record for the past 3 weeks. The Americana and Folk influences make me picture desolate ghost towns, lush forests, and silent, glassy lakes. Living in New York, these are things I never get to see so I like that.
Having just recently locked down a deal with Sub Pop, Seattle’s Fleet Foxes are preparing for a massive nationwide tour. They might describe themselves as “Church Music” or “Acappella”, but I would note it first as dreamy indie-folk. In the vain of Wilco and My Morning Jacket (without the rawk), Fleet Foxes takes you on an journey through deep harmony, gorgeous melody, and classic rhythm.
Pitchfork gave their Sun Giant EP (Blue Ridge is on their unreleased LP “Ragged Wood”, which for me is scores better than the EP) an impressive 8.7.
