scrapo sucks: browser compatibility fail

i just signed up for scrapo.com, trying to find a good online scrapbooking tool for a project. upon signing in for the first time, the above images are what i see. they tell me i’m required to use IE 5.5 or better. IE5!!! not even microsoft likes IE6, let alone IE5. and isn’t that like requiring me to use a butter knife to cut my steak? i hear they also make you take your pictures blindfolded and make their employees ride broken razor scooters to work. why would you force me to use the most inadequate “tool” on the market in order to use your site?

now, i’ll give crapo.com [sic] credit for telling me up front that they’ve failed the most basic usability test and the impossibility of my continued use of their site (i’m on a mac; no IE for me). i *do* have a beef with the fact they waited to tell me until i had spent 5 minutes registering (not to mention the whole browser incompatibility thing itself).

The rift began when Mount Dabbahu erupted, for the first time in recorded history, and in a matter of just three weeks spread to up to 25’ wide along a fault line in the Afar desert. “Here’s a letter that I sent on Friday to the New York Times:

Writing about health-care, Paul Krugman asserts that “conservatives … don’t want Americans to have universal coverage” (”The Defining Moment,” Oct. 30).

Among the earliest lessons that I teach my freshman economics students are (1) intentions are not results, and (2) to oppose a government program is not necessarily to object to the intentions stated by that program’s advocates.

Paul Krugman obviously teaches his students differently, for he clearly believes that (1) if government intends for Americans to have universal health coverage, then the result will be that Americans actually get universal health coverage, and (2) anyone who opposes a government program promising universal health coverage is a person who objects to Americans actually getting universal health coverage.

Mr. Krugman’s reasoning is evidence that he’s forgotten some of the most foundational lessons of economics. Pity his students.
